The TS-ADC16 is an 8-bit (16-bit in Arm® core compatibility mode) PC/104 peripheral board (standard format) that provides 16 channels of 16-bit analog to digital conversion (ADC or A/D converter) with internal 512x16bit RAM-FIFO. In addition, it provides 4 channels of 12-bit digital to analog conversion (DAC), 4 16-bit counters, 4 digital inputs and 1 digital output. It is a strong solution for data acquisition, measurement, control, and analog interface applications.
The TS-ADC16 features two LTC1859 chips with a sampling rate up to 2x100ksps (kilo samples per second). Each ADC chip provides 16 ADC channels with software selectable input ranges, 16-bit wide each, which can be configured as 16 single ended channels or 8 differential channels. The TS-ADC16 can simultaneously read 2 channels at a time. 12 of the ADC channels are brought out using rugged removable screw terminal connectors. In addition, all the ADC channels can be accessed via two standard 26-pin jumper headers.
Other LTC1859 features include:
- Sample Rate: 100ksps
- 8-Channel Multiplexer with +/-25V Protection
- Single 5V Supply
- Software-Programmable Input Ranges:
- 0V to 5V, 0V to 10V, +/-5V or +/-10V
- Single Ended or Differential
- Power Dissipation: 40mW (Typical)
The TS-ADC16 also features 4 digital inputs (range 0 to 5V), 1 digital output (range 0 to 3.3V, source/sink 50mA) and 4 16-bit wide counters. In addition, 4 buffered channels of 12-bit DAC are provided using the same kind of connectors available to the ADC channels. The DAC interface supports output ranges from 0 to Vref or 0 to 2xVref. Please refer to the manual or contact embeddedTS for further information regarding the extra functions of the TS-ADC16 board.
There are 4 separate jumper selectable I/O decode addresses, allowing up to 4 cards in a single system. The TS-ADC16 is a RoHS compliant board and the form-factor is standard PC/104. This product operates in extended industrial temperature range (-40°C to 85°C) by default.
The TS-ADC16 is compatible with both Arm-based and X86 Single Board Computers. The Arm® core compatibility jumper (JP3) allows 16-bit access through the 64-pin PC/104 connector using an Arm-based SBC. Other products will make use of 8-bit PC/104 bus cycles with the jumper OFF.
The internal FIFO allows the application to read a full block of 512 samples using 16-bit or 8-bit PC/104 bus cycles. Application timing requirements are met using an internal buffer to store the ADC data as it is acquired. The application can be interrupted once new data is available for reading. Also, the board can be programmed to periodically read samples and store data in the FIFO. A Linux driver that handles the internal configuration and reading mechanism is available.
For further information regarding software support for this product, please refer to the manual or contact embeddedTS.
