Powered by the NXP i.MX6 with the Arm® Cortex®-A9 core, the TS-TPC-7990 Touch Panel Computer (TPC) stands out from the crowd
with its 7" capacitive or resistive touch display, high performance CPU subsystem, wide variety of connectivity options, and multimedia capabilities.
FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ, OCTOBER 12, 2017 – Technologic Systems unveiled the TS-TPC-7990, its newest addition to their Touch Panel Computer (TPC) Suite. Built on the NXP i.MX6 Cortex-A9 Arm® Cortex®-A9 core and available in a Solo or Quad Core configuration, this Touch Panel Computer has the ability to provide end-users with true, next-generation graphical experience with high-definition video, 2D, or 3D graphics. The TS-TPC-7990 comes in either a resistive or capacitive screen making it an ideal solution for any application that requires a touch-based Human Machine Interface (HMI), such as: industrial automation, medical, automotive, self-service kiosks, and retail point-of-sale terminals.
?Since the TS-TPC-7990 is available in either resistive or capacitive touch the panel PC can truly be tailored to suit any HMI demands. It is built to be deployed and will deliver unparalleled performance and interactive solutions for your harsh-duty touch screen needs,? said Robert Miller, company Founder and President.
Get Yourself ConnectedAn on-board socket, capable of supporting NimbeLink cellular modems, provides a simple path to cellular connectivity for applications such as remote equipment monitoring and control. Additionally, there is the option for a cellular modem via daughter card. This allows transmission of serial data via TCP, UDP or SMS over the cellular network. WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are also available, providing even more connectivity options.
For use in the field, the TS-TPC-7990 has a mPCIe slot which can accommodate a host of options and diverse set of I/O capacities. An on-board mSATA connection is ideal for applications requiring access to large reliable data storage. The TS-TPC-7990 is built with functionality and flexibility in mind and offers wide variety of connectors. I/O interfaces include four RS-232 ports, three RS-485 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and a USB Host Port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and 10/100 Ethernet port, two CAN bus, one I2C, one SPI and nine GPIO. It also comes with built-in speakers for multimedia applications, and an audio codec with headphone and microphone headers for additional flexibility.
Powerful InsuranceThe TS-TPC-7990 is an entirely fanless solid-state operation with no moving parts and is HALT verified at temperatures from -20 °C to +70 °C. Supporting the 7-inch TFT LCD is a rugged aluminum frame, making it an ideal solution for mounting on wall, cabinet or point of sale signage. A rugged, water protected (IP66) enclosed cabinet is available for the TS-TPC-7990 for deployment in more adverse conditions.
The unit may be powered by standard DC power supply with flexible input range from 5V DC to 8 to 28 VDC or via Power over Ethernet (PoE) with daughter card. Applications with strict low power requirements will appreciate the work that's been done to reduce power consumption to less than 8 watts in typical conditions and down to 6 mW in sleep mode. Wake from sleep mode can be configured to either a timer or wake on touch settings.
The TS-TPC-7990 also supports TS-SILO as an optional feature which will provide up to 30 seconds of reserve power in the event of a power failure. This precious extra time gives the board time to gracefully power down and ensures file system integrity. A battery-backed real time clock (BBRC) keeps accurate time and a watchdog timer is available to help when a system becomes unresponsive in the field.
Comes out SwingingThe TS-TPC-7990 can boot from the onboard eMMC Flash or microSD card to Linux, Debain or Android operating systems via U-Boot bootloader for out of the box functionality. For the onboard eMMC flash, a choice between high reliability SLC or high capacity MLC configurations are available. The device comes standard with Yocto Linux distribution running the 3.10 kernel version, which has been customized to take full advantage of the i.MX6 CPU 3D graphics acceleration capabilities, and boots to shell in under 6 seconds.
