Compact Network Appliance with Embedded Featureset

Powered by the Marvell Armada 385 Dual Core 800MHz ARM CPU, and up to 2GB DDR3 memory with ECC, the TS-7840 industrial Single Board Computer (SBC) pulls double duty as both an embedded computer with industry-standard interfaces and a network appliance supporting copper links or fiber SFP links to upstream networks. A PoE PSE provides the ability to power other devices over PoE. An integrated Layer 2+ 5 port switch can directly handle all local network traffic and offload basic routing functions from the CPU. Additionally, the TS-7840 has optional hardware support for Precision Time Protocol (PTP)/IEEE 1588 timing, and a GPS interface for location and precision timing information.

To facilitate communicating from the local networking complex to the outside world a wide variety of other network protocols are supported, including an xDSL Telecom Interface. For wireless networks, NimbeLink/Digi sockets are provided to support Cellular, Iridium, and WiFi Radios).

In addition to the networking features, the TS-7840 includes a host of other interfaces allowing the device to feel at home in a wide variety of environments. These interfaces include other network protocols such as CAN & RS-232/RS-485, and wireless protocols such as WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular, satellite, or a variety of mesh networks. High-speed peripherals are supported by USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 interfaces. An optional OLED monochrome display (128x64px) allows for quick reading of system status or diagnostics. Additionally, the TS-7840 can be powered by a wide range of power supplies, including 10 - 48 VDC or optionally 48 VAC.

Reliable Data Storage with TS-SILO and FRAM

The TS-SILO power reserve ensures that there will never be data loss or corruption when there is unexpected interruptions in power. TS-SILO provides up to 30 seconds of operation to allow graceful system shutdown, protecting data stored on the on board eMMC. Additionally the TS-7840 integrates Ferroelectric RAM (FRAM or FeRAM ) which combines non-volatile data storage with incredibly high read/write endurance for the ultimate in reliability for heavy data logging applications.
