The TS-7260 is a compact, full-featured Single Board Computer (SBC) based upon the Cirrus EP9302, which provides a standard set of on-board peripherals. The EP9302 features an advanced Arm9™ core design with MMU. TS-7260 includes software power consumption control for on-board peripherals, making this board ideal for use in power sensitive designs, such as battery-powered systems. In addition, the TS-XDIO standard feature can be replaced by either 2 extra serial ports or an SD card socket, which enables fast boot to Debian Linux from an SD card.
The TS-7260 specifically targets ultra low power applications such as solar or battery powered devices. It features an optional high-precision temperature sensor and the on-board ADC measures input voltage for battery or solar applications. The default configuration with no ethernet consumes ½ Watt of power. A small UPS battery (12V / 7.2Ah) can power this board for up to 172 hours! Since the CPU has continuously variable on-chip PLLs, it could survive even longer if you allow its internal clocks to slow down. Low power also means low heat - feel free to put this board in the most confined of places as it needs neither fan nor heatsink across its entire temperature range (-40° to +70° with CPU at 200MHz; -40° to +85°C with CPU at 166MHz or lower).
The TS-7260 features a high efficiency switching-mode power supply, which enables variable input voltage anywhere from 4.5 to 20V DC. In addition, it includes software controlled switches that are able to turn off USB 5V power, LCD power, ethernet PHY, RTC, and RS-232 level converters when not in use, reducing the power consumption even more. As with all our Arm®-based products, low board complexity, low component count, and low power/heat make for an extremely reliable embedded engine.
Users can pre-configure the TS-7260 SBC for optimum performance to meet their applications' needs. The TS-7260 comes standard with the TS-XDIO feature, which provides more control functions for data acquisition and control systems. The TS-XDIO may be replaced by either the SD card socket option (OP-SDSOCKET) or the 2 extra TTL serial ports option (OP-2TTLCOM). The SD card socket allows more flash memory to be added via SD flash cards. The TS-7260 is also able to boot to Debian Linux from an SD card. The 2 extra TTL serial ports option enables interfacing to external hardware. It is important to note that these options cannot be simultaneously selected, meaning that only one of these features can be selected for a single TS-7260 configuration.
Software
embeddedTS's TS-7260 Arm-based Single Board Computers (SBCs) are compatible with a wide range of Operating Systems (OS's). The Linux choice is highly recommended and our products are totally integrated with the open-source vision. The Linux OS, TS-Kernel 2.4.26, is shipped by default with our Arm-based SBCs and includes complete driver support for our hardware within the kernel, enabling quick time to market for end-users' applications. Examples and source codes are also available for downloading.
The embeddedTS Arm-based SBCs include the TS-Linux compact embedded OS installed by default in on-board flash memory (8MB, JFFS or YAFFS filesystems). The eCos/Redboot boot loader is used to open the OS of choice. In addition, the full featured Debian Linux distribution can be used with a network directory (NFS root) or larger flash drives (256MB), such as Compact Flash, SD cards or USB memory sticks. The Linux system includes a complete GNU C/C++ embedded development environment installed. In addition, Apache Web Server, FTP, SSH, Telnet and Samba internet services are available with C/PHP/Perl for embedded CGI development.
The Linux solution for Arm cores is compatible with the RTAI real-time extension, enabling systems with strict timing requirements to be handled with our SBCs. Furthermore, NetBSD has been ported to embeddedTS Arm-based SBCs and Java solutions are also available.
